Characters

There really aren't many characters you meet during the game, besides the monsters. Here's my attempt at covering them.

Bomberman

Bomberman is, as expected, the main character of the game. Meant to simply escort half a hundred monsters to prison on Planet Bomber, the four commanders come along and make his life a misery by not only releasing the monsters upon the citizens of the planet below, but also taking his engines. In the process of getting everything back, he attempts at being funny, but you can imagine how well that goes down.

Water Commander

Water Commander is the only female of the commanders, and as such, is portrayed as a flirtatious, boyfriend-seeking, playful little girl that you want to punch. She also has a habit of blowing herself up, as if the ditzy stereotype wasn't pushed far enough.

Electro Commander

Electro Commander is the crybaby kid that you seriously want to kick and throw off a bridge of the commanders. Once Bomberman arrives, he pouts and whines and screams and shouts at everything he says, and I have no remorse for him being killed. He should've been the Water Commander instead, with his tears putting out your bombs.

Hurricommander

Hurricommander is a weird name. He's the obligatory narcissistic, self-centred jerk of the baddies, and speaks in dot dot dots and suggestions to turn back before his inflated ego squashes you. Also to boost his confidence is the fact he has a scarf and can fly. Total jerk.

Pyro Commander

Now, Pyro Commander is truly sympathetic. The manual says he's laid back, but I say the big lug just doesn't know what he's doing is wrong, and seems hesitant to fight Bomberman. But then when he fights him he holds no punches. If Pyro Commander were real I'd buy him a cake.

Policeman

Because of the rampaging monsters everywhere, these guys won't let anyone past until they decide to not be jerks. Way to hinder the progress of saving the world, guys.

Old man

Crazy old man is obsessed with trading cards, and has a Robot Bomb ready to give away for anyone who shows him three rare cards. And after that, he proves useless, aside from a heart-warming "good luck!".

Bomb fuser

The merry old bomb fuser lets you take useless rubbish and fuse them with explosive cores to make weapons of destruction.

Pouty woman

With all the monsters rampaging and everything, this woman stays at home and mutters about it all day, and wants to cause physical harm to whoever did it. Even after you've caught all the monsters.

Librarian

The librarian may not be a librarian, but she stays in there all day, so that's good enough for me to name her that. She's apparently an adventurer as well, in search of Teleport Armour, but she, like the pouty woman, is pointless in terms of story and gameplay.

Chaos Bomber

Chaos Bomber is the ringleader of the commanders, and can not only fly, but also create bombs anywhere, shoot electricity and shockwaves, fire homing beams and turn into an orb. He's essentially Hurricommander, except less self-centred and more of an all-and-out jerk, with cheap skills. Amusingly, he's not even alluded to anywhere in the story until the very end where he just pops up and says he was behind everything. Now that's a story.

Mami

Mami shows up as a secret character, and proceeds to break the fourth wall by stating what she is. She also has no means of directly harming you, meaning she's quite possibly the most useless enemy ever.

Ruisha

Ruisha is another secret character, and automatically trumps Mami by the fact she can not only harm you, but also avoid your attacks. Pity she's still easy to defeat.

Golem Bomber

I've no idea if this is her name, thanks to Bomberman being a hard series to find information for online aside from basic gameplay instructions and reviews and cheats. She attempts to take the spotlight from Bomberman, and does so with a duel, which may have been an interesting dilemma if it weren't for the fact she lacks any resemblance of fighting skill.

Pump

This guy serves no purpose at all to the story or gameplay, but he's there.
