Introduction
Here we are then: Transformers Zone, the last ever G1 animated thing you can ever see. Yet another Japanese exclusive, only one episode of the series was ever released, all though there are all kinds of rumours about Zone.
The story for Zone is that Victory Saber is still leading the Autobots and goes on a rescue mission to a planet under Decepticon attack. When he gets injured, it's down to the Autobot Micromasters to hold things together as the Decepticons go on a hunt for energon-Z and the Zodiac. But as these guys fail, the new main characters, Autobot Powermasters Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber, step up to stop the Decepticons. After several fights these two Autobots use the Zodiac to give themselves new transformation modes and show off their new power be killing a few Decepticons, and then at the very end of the episode, Dai Atlas is made the new Autobot leader by Victory Saber.
Sadly, whilst this first episode was finished and released on video in Japan, no more were to ever arrive, and in terms of actual animation, Zone remains unfinished. The story was eventually concluded in Japan's TV Magazine, but no other episodes were released due to the Transformers no longer being popular enough to support a cartoon anymore. Zone was actually meant to only be a video only series anyway, but it wasn't even granted this.
And so, after six series and one movie, the Japanese G1 animated Transformers continuity ends with this single episode. In my opinion it's much better then the other OVA Japan did for the Transformers but it's just a shame that it'll never be fully completed as the single episode is pretty good and with characters like Metrotitan and Roadfire yet to be introduced in the series it could have been excellent. So transform and roll out folks, that's pretty much the end of it all.
