A Fierce Battle!! The Asteroid

The narrator starts the episode off by telling us that between Mars and Jupiter, there is an asteroid belt. And Spaceship 301 (that is it's real name!), a research vessel heading for Jupiter, is cruising along nicely when suddenly it enters a thick gas and the crew can no longer pilot the ship. It sends out a distress signal back to Earth but then disappears from radar entirely.
 

More and more ships are vanishing in the same area of space, which becomes known as the "Devil Zone" and as word reaches Autobot HQ Jan and the Rescue team are wondering why Star Saber isn't doing anything about it, but in another area of the base the Brainmasters and Multiforce are hard at work building a ship for Star Saber to use. The Multiforce don't know what he needs it for exactly but are told by Blacker that they will find out soon enough.
 

Back at the asteroid belt the Thunder Arrow is on one of the larger asteroids and the case of the missing spaceships is indeed all down to the Decepticons. The ships they've captured are being drained of their energy, with the Dinoforce working to get some whilst all the captured humans are being put to work for the cause too.
 

Inside the Thunder Arrow, Leozack is praising the plan they have had and that everything is going along fine. Deszaras tells him that it's about time one of his plans worked and then goes on to say that they will strip down all of the spaceships once they've been drained of their energy, then the scrap can be used to create an energy alloy and that this time, Star Saber will not be able to stop them.
 

The work at Shuttle base is completed and Star Saber tells everyone that they have created a spaceship that he can hide in, and he is going to fly to the Devil Zone and deliberately use himself as bait so he can find out what is going on. He'll have to go alone of course, and this idea is not approved by Jan who warns that is something happened to him then the Autobots would be left leaderless. But Star Saber insists and prepares for take off.
 

Later on Star Saber gets every Autobot outside on Galaxy Shuttle's launch platform and leaves Blacker in charge of the Autobots until he returns. And with that Star Saber transforms into his jet mode and positions himself at the front of the recently created ship, which blasts off and is soon in space.
 

The Autobots head back inside to watch Star Saber's progress on radar. Holi notices the time and tells Jan that he needs to go to school but he refuses to go as he wants to stay and see what happens to Star Saber. Blacker lets him, telling Holi that Jan sees Star Saber as a father to him and that he has the right to stay. Meanwhile in space Star Saber is approaching the Demon Zone.
 

And as he gets close to one asteroid in particular, we're shown that the gas is Decepticon generated stuff which blasts out and covers a large area. Star Saber sees it coming towards him but doesn't alter his course and as it hits he sees that it would have been powerful enough to knock out the computers on human spaceships and cause them to lose control.
 

Star Saber has vanished off the Autobot's radar and they're sitting around the base hoping for the best when Jan has the not so bright idea of contacting Star Saber over the radio. Blacker and the other Brainmasters rush in and tell him to stop it as if the Decepticons intercept the frequency they will know that something is up, and tell Jan not to worry as Star Saber will contact them as soon as he finds the Decepticon hide-out, and then they will all head to the Devil Zone in Galaxy Shuttle.
 

Meanwhile Star Saber's ship is then pulled in towards the large asteroid by tractor beams and Leozack inspects the new ship along with the Dinoforce. He sees that the ship is unmanned and that it seems to be made out of high quality material that no other human ship they've captured has had. He goes to check the front when Drillhorn runs out showing him the energy alloy that has been recently created. Leozack takes a sample to show to Deszaras whilst Drillhorn shows the Dinoforce another sample, using it to blow up part of the asteroid.
 

With the Decepticons distracted testing out their new toys, Star Saber sneaks out and heads inside the Decepticon base complex. Meanwhile in the Thunder Arrow, Deszaras is pleased with the alloy and demands more to be made so they can store it all in the ship. As this is happening Star Saber tells one of the humans that he will get them all out of here and for now they should keep working. He then heads back out and sends a message to the Autobots on Earth.
 

As the message comes though at Autobot HQ, Blacker decodes it and soon finds out where Star Saber is in the Devil Zone. He sends out Braver and Laster on Galaxy Shuttle to help him out as Holi tells Jan that he can relax as Star Saber is OK.
 

At the asteroid again Star Saber runs back to his ship and transforms, and reveals that the V-Star is there as well. The Decepticons are surprised to see him and open fire, but fires back and lets the V-Star go off to destroy parts of the base, including those gas generators.
 

Leozack threatens to destroy the complex where all the captured humans are working but Star Saber jumps in front of it and sends Leozack's laser shots right back at him as the other Decepticons continue to fire at the Autobot leader. Meanwhile the V-Star is still flying around and is causing some considerable damage to the Thunder Arrow -so much so that if the Decepticons don't do something about it then the ship, and all of the energy they collected within it, is in danger of being destroyed.
 

So off go the Dinoforce as the other Decepticons send out their Brest animals to attack Star Saber, but he smashes them all away. Galaxy Shuttle then arrives and lands, and as Braver and Laster jump out Star Saber says that he can deal with things here and that they need to rescue all of the humans inside the main building.
 

The two Autobots batter down part of a wall and find all of the humans, and Laster tells them all to quickly get onboard Galaxy Shuttle. As they're doing that the Decepticons continue to get totally wasted by Star Saber...
 

...and the Dinoforce aren't doing any better either. Goryu tells them all to retreat and they head back inside the Thunder Arrow. Deszaras decides that they need to leave now with the energy they have and doesn't care that Leozack and the others are still outside, as he launches the ship and heads away at full speed.
 

The other Decepticons don't seemed to have notice that their ride has departed and are still busy fighting Star Saber. They use their weapons to chain up their opponent and begin to suck energy out of him, but he bursts free and then swipes them all with his saber blade, sending them flying into outer space uncontrollably.
 

As Star Saber watches the Decepticons fly off he reports back in to Autobot HQ and says that their work here is done. And then Jan and Holi end the episode with yet another one of those "lets start laughing for no reason" kind of things.

So, the asteroid belt is between Jupiter and Mars. Yes, Mars. You know, that planet that got destroyed in The Headmasters. Although in the dubbed version of the final Headmasters episode Fortress did say that the Autobots were going to rebuild Mars, so...

Deszaras says that it's about time that one of Leozack's plans worked, and then Leozack glares at him. In the English dub version of this scene, Deszaras actually congratulates Leozack... who then glares at him.
