The Underground City of Terror

After getting a lot of energy from their jungle base, the Decepticons are in the Thunder Arrow which is once again under the sea. Deszaras has already thought up a new plan and it involves the Brestforce attacking the underground to steal electricity and turn it into energon. Leozack voices concern over the Autobots attacking them but Deszaras tells him to just get on with it. Later Leozack is angry that he and his team have to go and do such a trivial mission when losers like the Dinoforce could have gone instead.

The Decepticons reach the American city where their mission is to take place and Drillhorn creates an entrance for them to the underground. Meanwhile the Autobots are checking up on any Decepticon activity across the Earth and see that no report has come in from North America yet, so they decide to head towards there to check it out. Back in the city people begin to see strange things like giant robots popping out of the floor and vanishing again for no reason.

Their mission is suppose to be a secret and no-one should even know they are there but Jaruga is nearly hit by a train until he jumps out of the way... and straight up through the roof to the above level, scaring everyone. He crawls away down another tunnel as Drillhorn is making his way through a couple of walls, but he backs off when another train is heading towards him, but it crashes into the rubble he created instead.

Back at the Shuttle base, Holi's Rescue team are doing a training exercise when they hear the base's alarm go off. Inside, the Autobots have found out about the Decepticon activity in the subway and that they must be there to take the electricity and turn it into energon as there is so much of it available. And thanks to the subway system being a confusing mess, it would be difficult to fight down there. But Star Saber transforms and jets off whilst everyone else gets a ride on Galaxy Shuttle.

Leozack is tearing up some tubes to get at electricity, but suddenly decides that he's bored and that he -someone who is destined to be the Decepticon Emperor of Destruction -should not have to do things so quietly. And with that he starts shooting the place up causing devastation everywhere. And by the looks of things the other Decepticons here this and decide they want a go.

The Autobots land and roll out to discuss what they are going to do. The Rescue team is just given the task to save as many people as possible when Star Saber sees Jan trying to sneak into Holi, but since he's here now Star Saber just lets him stay to help out in the rescue operation. Whilst they are doing that, Star Saber transforms and heads off to the power distribution center of the subway, which is where he thinks the Decepticons will be. The Rescue team start their mission, with Holi and Fire moving down into the subway whilst Pipo and Boater get the injured to the hospital.

As Star Saber heads towards the power distribution place, Blacker's group go into the main section of the subway where the Decepticons have caused damage. Laster has Drillhorn's Brest animal smash straight into his stomach as Drillhorn taunts him for being weak, and it's not a good situation for Laster, as in these cramped tunnels he can't put up a proper fight.

Star Saber gets to his destination and heads inward, with the V-Star following him. He picks up a reading and heads towards it, where he can see some kind of shadow lurking in one of the tunnels. As he gets closer the shadow turns out to be Deszaras!

Deszaras runs off and leads Star Saber into a larger room. He transforms as Star Saber gets ready to fight him, but Deszaras points out that using guns isn't a bright idea as they are in the main room where a large explosion could happen if they aren't careful. With Star Saber hesitant, Deszaras sends out both of his Brest animals to attack as he starts to take energy.

Elsewhere in the subway Killbison is heading towards a generator to take energy from it when Blacker attacks him and bends his turrets so he can't shoot. So instead he transforms and sends his Brest animal to attack. Whilst Blacker fights the animal he heads back towards the generator and is found be Leozack who accuses him of being weak.

Leozack then turns his attention to Blacker and fights him, but even with his own Brest animal helping him in the battle Blacker is more than a match for the Decepticon.

The Rescue team is now all in the Subway and telling everyone to head back up to the surface, when part of the roof collapses and destroys the only stairs leading to the top. Pipo sees that the exit is now blocked off and contacts Holi to figure out what they are going to do.

Star Saber draws out his sword and starts to fight Deszaras, eventually knocking both of his Brest animals out of the way and getting the V-Star to distract the Emperor of Destruction by crashing straight into him. As Deszaras is messing around with that Star Saber throws his sword straight into the middle od Deszaras' chest.

Deszaras isn't dead though and pulls out the sword whilst recalling his Brest animals back. Saying he just got careless, he decides to run off with the energy he has gotten today and then throws the sword back at it's owner and runs off. He's already gone by the time Star Saber has recovered from dodging the sword.

News of Deszaras' retreat gets to Jaruga who informs the other Decepticons. They all head back but Leozack as he continues to fight Blacker, but soon he realises he's overpowered as Blacker rubs it in. Leozack promises him that the next time they meet he will be destroyed, and then departs, but the Autobot just laughs this off.

And to wrap up the stairs situation Fire is used as a way to get people up from one floor to the other. With the Decepticons getting away with little energy the Autobots have once again won the day, although again they've got quite a bit of repair work to do around the city before they can go home.

This is the first episode where we get a decent look at Deszaras' bird monster mode, which explains why there are so many shots of it when it's first seen.

Drillhorn kind of just vanishes after making the train crash. Same deal goes with Braver, he heads out with the other Autobots but doesn't get to do anything useful in the fights as he isn't even shown. I'm thinking there may have been some kind of scripted scene where the two fight each other which never got animated. Oh and of course Galaxy Shuttle is never seen again this episode after dropping the Autobots off, but that's the life of an Autobot bus for you.

There's a child called Cathy who is separated from her mother when the subway stairs collapse, but the two are reunited thanks to Fire. Just thought I'd mention that in the dub for this episode, the child is never named by her mother, who always refers to her as "my child!".

There's then the small matter of Deszaras getting a sword through the chest here and not complaining about it much at all, but just you wait until the last episode...
