Characters
The Autobots get many new Micromasters in their force, whilst the Decepticons almost completely rely on having old characters being bought back, although they are all given new designs.
This list is incomplete, but it's because I, and apparently everyone on the Internet, cannot recognise all the characters. Whilst there are lists of them available, they aren't any use without pictures and it means that I can't have everyone who appears in the episode in this list as I don't know if I've got the right names. For example, this might be Starcloud, but it might not be. If anyone can tell me who is who then please e-mail away.
Dai Atlas is one of the two Powered Masters featured in the episode, and he and the other Powered Masters are the ones who helped to build Planet Zone. After finding out that Victory Saber may have been killed when Feminia was destroyed by the Decepticons, he and Sonic Bomber go out to look for him. They find him alive and take him back to Zone, and they realise that the Decepticons must be after the super energy, Zodiac. Dai Atlas hunts down the Decepticons on Earth and is almost killed by Trypticon but he manages to save himself and the other Autobots by using the power of the Zodiac to give him and Sonic Bomber new base transformation modes. At the end of the episode, he is made the new leader of the Autobots by Victory Saber.
Holi is still part of the rescue team and is in charge of rescuing as many people as possible when the Decepticons attack Feminia, a task he does by cramming as many of the inhabitants as possible onto Galaxy Shuttle. After this he returns to Planet Zone and after the Decepticons attack them he and his team stay behind to repair damaged areas of the base, and when he wishes that Victory Saber and the Powered Masters would return, they do. Holi helps to repair Victory Saber whilst he is told all about what the Zodiac is by Dai Atlas. (Holi has also been given a colour change so he now matches his toy - that's why he has black parts here which were incorrectly white in Victory.)
Moonradar seems to be the leader of all the Micromasters and is first seen taking Kain and Emusa back to the main base. When the base is attacked by the Decepticons, Moonradar organises everyone to counter-attack and then gets a group together to chase after the retreating Decepticons. He is the most seen Micromaster in the episode.
Pipo is still the Autobot's main medic and is seen a couple of times in the episode, first appearing during the beginning when Feminia is attacked and then later on with Holi when the Powered Masters return with Victory Saber.
Sonic Bomber is the other Powered Master to make an appearance in the episode and is always helping out Dai Atlas. After finding Victory Saber and taking him back to Planet Zone, he and Dai Atlas go to Earth to fight against the Decepticons who are after the Zodiac energy. He is nearly destroyed but when Dai Atlas uses the Zodiac, Sonic Bomber is given a new base transformation mode and this gives him the fire power to destroy Trypticon.
Victory Saber is still in command of the Autobots, and when he finds out that planet Feminia is under attack by the Decepticons, he heads there with Galaxy Shuttle and the Rescue Team. After saving Kain from certain death, Victory Saber orders the Autobots to withdraw but he does not escape in time as the planet explodes and seemingly taking him with it. It's revealed later on in the episode that he didn't die and just needs to go under extensive repairs, so whilst this is being done he decides to pass over leadership to Dai Atlas.
CAMEOS
Boater, Fire and Galaxy Shuttle all appear during the scene at Feminia. At the end of the episode, Grand Maximus, Landcross, Lander, Lightfoot, Metalhawk, Ranger, Road Caesar and Road King are all present at ceremony, although you'll have to just take my word for it - whilst it is them, that was the best quality picture I could get of any of them.
There are ten Decepticons in the episode, and nine of them have been seen before, although they all have new designs here. It is hinted at that Violen Jygar resurrected the nine generals, meaning they all must have died at some point before, but many people do not like this idea, and the only known one who would have had to be resurrected before was Black Zarak.
Abominus is summoned by Violen Jygar to help with the other eight "great demon generals". He doesn't look a whole lot like his original version, and has a completely different head along with a new shield and various other differences. His biggest role in the episode is when he helps to attack the Autobot base on Planet Zone.
Black Zarak is unique amongst all of the returning Decepticons as he is the only one who had to have been resurrected - as he was destroyed in
Masterforce. In the episode, he only appears to stop the pursuing Autobots, and they he vanishes as quickly as he appeared. It is also not known who was bought back - was it Black Zarak, or was it Devil Z, or was it both? We'll never know. His new design turns him into a pirate, as he's got an eye-patch and a hook for a right hand.
Bruticus does appear in the episode. And this really is the best image I can get of him. His main role in the episode is when he attacks the Autobot base on Planet Zone along with Abominus, Overlord and Menasor, but even then it's very difficult to get a decent picture of him. Try looking at this if you want some better art.
Devastator leads a group of Decepticons to Earth to find the Zodiac energy, and after tearing the planet apart he and the others finally find it only for Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber to show up on the scene. Devastator nearly kills Dai Atlas when he attempts to drill a hole through his back but he never gets the chance to do this and seconds later he is (probably) destroyed when lava engulfs him.
King Poseidon is part of Devastator's group which attack the Earth, looking for the Zodiac. When Devastator finds it he passes it to King Poseidon, who heads back up to the surface and he throws it to Predaking and Trypticon, who screw up and give the chance for Dai Atlas to take it. He is destroyed minutes later by Dai Atlas' new base mode.
Menasor is apparently the "Intelligence" general of the nine, which is truly laughable if you look at how smart he was in his previous appearances, although most of the returning Decepticons in this episode seem to have been given a boost IQ wise. Menasor's major appearance here is when he attacks the Autobot base on Planet Zone, determined to kill all of the Autobots there.
Overlord is the leader of the nine generals, and is possibly Violen Jygar's second in command. After being told by the Emperor of Destruction that Victory Saber has been destroyed and that they need certain energies to create a Decepticon planet, Overlord leads Abominus, Menasor and Bruticus to Planet Zone where they attack the Autobot base, and he is the one who steals the energon-Z. After he gets this he retreats and doesn't do anything major in the episode after this.
Predaking is pretty much as stupid as he was the last time we saw him, and accomplishes very little in the episode apart from almost killing Akira by stomping him into the ground. After this he attacks Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber, but after seeing Trypticon and King Poseidon being destroyed by the two Autobot's new base modes, he attempts to flee the area but is hunted down and rather horribly killed by Dai Atlas.
Trypticon is the dumbest one of all the returning Decepticons, and whilst he looks different from before the most noticeable thing about him is that he has been greatly reduced in size since when we last saw him in The Headmasters. He likes to attack with a spiked club and almost destroys Dai Atlas, but is later destroyed himself by Sonic Bomber. Oh well, at least he finally has eyes now.
Violen Jygar is the new Emperor of Destruction (leader) of the Decepticons, having taken over the position after the likely death of Deszaras. Not much is ever revealed about him in the episode other than that he is a three faced being who wants to create his own planet for the Decepticons, and he sends out his nine generals to steal the energy he needs to do it. He's also named after a musical instrument, which is lol.
OTHER CHARACERS
There are only a couple of humans in the episode, along with a pink space bunny. Uh huh.
Akira is a boy who lies to collect butterflies, but he is almost killed when Predaking finds him. He is saved at the last second by the Autobots though who take him to safety, and he meets Kain and Emusa. His father is mentioned, but not seen, and he is a space physicist who knows about the Zodiac. Akira later strikes a deal with Moonradar so that they will learn from each other about the Autobots and Earth.
Emusa is Kain's annoying flying pink space bunny thing which has a massive tail and always speaks in third person, and is not a happy bunny when Feminia is destroyed as he finds Planet Zone very boring as it's all metal. When he goes to Earth with the others he finds it a whole lot more interesting.
Kain is first seen when he finds that his home-world is under attack by the Decepticons, and he is almost killed when Victory Saber saves him and puts him on Galaxy Shuttle. After this event he is taken to Planet Zone and seems to join the Autobots, and basically just follows the Autobots around when they go after the Decepticons.
