Missing Graphics

There’s barely anything unused in Metal Slug 3, which is a shame.

And those backwards sprites are here again!

Frozen characters, but there's nowhere to be frozen.

This lift appears in an unused area in Mission 2. Not much to say about it, really.

Without the Level Select, it's impossible to complete a level with the Slug Mariner, so this is unused.

Poor Slug Copter. It appears just once in this game, and this game only; and you can't even complete a level with it without the level select. =(

And the same with the Slug Flyer.

However, the Drill Slug can't complete any levels, so due to that I had to get it from the tile viewer, though tango_311 fixed me up with some more official looking colours, though there's more red than there is in the actual sprites. Change in design or more colour cock-up?

The Camel is abandoned early in Mission 4, so it can't be used to complete a level either. Interestingly, in all the games it's appeared in, it's had two icons; one of it standing, and one of it sitting.

Same deal with the Elephant Slug, except it appears only in this game, thus I couldn't get the right palette.

And the Ostrich Slug suffers the same fate, except I couldn't find a palette that was suitable at all.

The zombie soldiers do fall down and get up, it's just slightly rare. In the PS2 version it seems more frequent, however.

And Satiko Suzuki is back, still as an ominous sprite that appears in areas you shouldn't see.

It appears that once, the CEO/president guy, actually RAN. He didn't get carted off by the men in black, but he RAN. Shocking.

Palette unchanged from the tile viewer.

Ivo originally found the cat when looking for rocket sprites in the tile viewer, but esreveR was the one who actually ripped them well. Aside from the camp site in Mission 2, I've no idea where you'd see the cute little thing, what with the rest of the areas being rather unorthodox locations for a cat to chill out in.

Not unused but merely obscured, as the Japanese soldiers carrying the tanks have full sprites and everything.

Domino found these on the 10th Anniversary site, and thus it isn't totally related to MS3, but I'm grouping it as such. An animation of Eri that was blown up and used in a screensaver, and I presume it was a turning animation once; an awesome looking, possibly Arabian soldier with a big ol' pack on his back; a pipe grenade wielding soldier from MS1; and a Japanese soldier relieving himself of bodily fluids, apparently.

Just like MSX had quite a number of MS3 things hiding inside it, MS3 repays that by having some MSX leftovers. But not regular leftovers. Leftovers from the console version! The menus, level select and loading icons are there, but I was a lazy dick and pinched the pyramid thing straight from MSX and didn't get the colours for hungry hungry Morden. Thanks to Domino for bringing this to my attention.

A different monkey with a palette I couldn't find, thus the horrible banana colour.

Stupid bus ruined my streak of unused sprites that mostly aren't seen anywhere else. =(

And the cars too. =(

I was totally on a roll, too.
