Resident Evil/Biohazard
Written by Galvatron.
Originally, Resident Evil was suppose to be a 2-Player game, which I thought was an awesome idea, but then Capcom decided that it didn't work properly and so made it single player only. Here you can see Chris and Jill in the corridor where the dogs jump
through the windows.
This screen is from the same video as the screen above. However, Jill is nowhere to be seen so it looks like the 2-Player version of RE could be played in single player
as well. Also, there are two zombies in this corridor, in the final game, the only enemies you can ever get in this corridor are either the dogs or spiders.
Another 2-Player screen. The big problem with the 2-Player mode was that whenever one character ran off screen, they would then have to wait for the other to catch up before the camera angle changed. Obviously, this didn't work very well and is why the 2-Player mode was eventually dropped.
If you look closely, you can see that Jill's costume is slightly different, her clothes are white instead of blue and she seems to have some shoulder pads. Some
concept art seems to show this version of Jill.
===CLICK FOR BIG===
This area looks different from the final, and it shows the snake boss, Yawn, slithering out to surprise Chris, the latter of which starts to shoot back with the crappy handgun, of all things. In the final, Yawn never appears here either.
Usually, zombies bleed red, but in this Japanese commercial, whenever a zombie gets shot, green blood spurts out.
An earlier version of the inventory screen, taken just after Chris pick's up Jill's gun at the near start of the game. As you can see, it's vastly different from the
final, and much more basic in terms of design.
The problem with this screen is that the dead body of Kenneth is missing. In the final, when you first come to this section, Kenneth has been killed by a zombie.
===CLICK FOR BIG===
The reason for this was because, originally, Capcom had Kenneth's body in another room. The room in question is the one where you can use the closet key to get different costumes after you complete the game. Note the fact that Kenneth hasn't been decapitated here, but in the final, a zombie bites his head off. In this version, a zombie is walking around (presumably it was the one that killed Kenneth) but in the final, the only zombie in here lies down on the floor to try and bite your ankles. If you look closely, Kenneth's legs seem to be missing.
This seems to be part of an FMV. Jill tries to open a door as a shark closes in behind her. In the final, it just shows the shark instead, the bit with Jill and the door is gone.
In the final, the flame thrower can only be used in the underground caves place, but somehow, Chris has it here.
If you look at the wall Jill is starring at, you can make out three lines. This is actually blood, and
apparently, it seeped out of the wall. However, it was removed from the final game.
Usually you can't get zombies in this room, plus the fire place to the right of the zombie is vastly different to the final version and lacks a lot of detail. The emblem you can usually get above the fire place is also missing.
This is one of the first rooms you can access (it's where you move the stairs to the statue to get the map). However, here, the room looks quite a bit different. The statue is missing, there are
two pillars, the chest of drawers isn't there, and the stairs are also missing. The room also has a weird aqua blue colouring, the final version is much more dull,
see it here.
At one point, it was intended that you would be able to find Trevor's diary and letters. However, Capcom decided that this gave away too much of the story too soon, and so they were dropped. They were put back into the GameCube remake though.
All 3 of the above items are unused in the game. The UZI would have been a cool weapon, and one of the few that would have been an automatic. The second item is a flame thrower canister, which would have been useful to use the flamethrower more, but in the final you can never reload it. Finally, there is the oil can, I have no idea what this could have been used for.
